Peter,

>>>Thought I would post my question here. I am making the jump from VFP to C# and .Net and am looking for a framework that is very flexible, robust and customizable. I have a complex application I want to write with very complex relations between tables. I have narrowed my decision to either MM.Net or Strataframe and am just looking for input.

>>We recently compared frameworks and mm.net and strataframe were the two that came out on top. We decided to not use a framework in the end because we had to incorporate more layers than both were designed for out of the box, and we also had to incorporate a lot of specific corporate standards into those layers. We also didn't want to get tied to framework updates. However, if you have a need for language localization I would highly recommend mm.net. If you are planning on wcf then I would also look at that with the two frameworks. Same with wpf for design. Many do a winforms app or webforms app initially and then a wpf version later. You want to be able to use the same framework. Also, what if any third party tools are you planning on using? Both work well with the most popular tools. It is also a great design to use if you are just starting out. I would highly recommend it. I didn't go past the evaluation phase of strataframe and customization was a huge requirement of
>>ours, so perhaps Charles will jump in and volunteer information on it. I know he as gone very far with using it and has attended training so he can better answer any questions you have on it.

>Thanks for your prompt response Tracy. I find that very interesting that you would choose to role your own. I am a small development company and I don't have the resources to do something so extensive so having someone else continiously update the BO framework to handle the latest incarnation of .net for a small fee has great value to me. I am currently using a framework for my vfp apps and get great value from it but it's time to change to .net.

I came from VFP also and I used Visual Fox Express. I evaluated both MM.net and Strataframe. I don't remember all the specifics about Strataframe other than it is very robust. I decided on MM because it was most similar to VFE in the construction design. Kevin from OakLeaf also has a VFP framework so is familar with Fox. I have not regretted going with MM but can't speak badly about Strataframe either.
