For the record, I agree the troop surge has made the situation in Iraq more stable. At least for as long as we are there. At the expense of making us short of troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where they are really needed.
BTW, did you see Obama's statements about Pakistan? He basically said the government is playing games with us and we should go harder after the Al Qaeda forces who seem to have a safe haven in the eastern mountains. No backbone? No positions? Hmm.
