But I would like to see the words in writing as, I think, it will help me to memorize the new words better. For example, right now I would like to see how the phrase "I would like to eat something" and "I would like to drink something" look in French.

I have a friend who married into a Vietnamese family about 6 years ago. Whenever I see them now, which is about 4 time a year, they're talking Vietnamese to each other. She is fluent of course, him,,, not so much, but he isn;t bad.

If you can;t marry one, then have one for an exchange student. :)
