The automatic reboot on GPF errors is a feature, default setting in "My Computer" -> Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and recovery Settings -> System Failure -> Automatically Restart checkbox.
Does it immediately reboot when you accept the Safe Mode, too?
IOW, do you get a chance to take a look at the Error Logs?
