I have 2 versions of an application one written in VFP6 SP5 using VFP tables, the other, basically the same application (upgraded and recompiled with VFP9SP2) but plugged into MS SQL Server database instead of VFP tables via remote views and cursoradapters.

Both versions run fine when running in English.
However, upon switching to Chinese (PRC or Taiwan), both application will hit fatal error randomly.
It could happen anywhere, ie while clicking on data entry screens or even just clicking on a menu item.
The VFP6 version will be more "consistent" in hitting the fatal error, ie after every 5 times of saving a document (invoice or any other document input screen of the accounting app), the fatal error appears. However, it could still happen without going into the document entry screen, clicking randomly on various menus will also hit fatal error.

On the VFP9 version, its even harder to find the cause, it just happens randomly with no patterns, ie sometimes when you're lucky, you could key in many transactions before you hit the fatal error, sometimes just clicking the menu a few times.

I've checked around town and various other application developers using VFP has similar problems with their programs as well.
So far, no one has a clue to solving this.

My question is, what are the basic settings that one must have in terms of environment, database connectivity, code pages etc in order that VFP is able to support Chinese. We've already generated the dbcs with the relevant code pages but to no avail.

Thank you.
