>>>>>>>>BTW, did you see Obama's statements about Pakistan? He basically said the government is playing games with us and we should go harder after the Al Qaeda forces who seem to have a safe haven in the eastern mountains. No backbone? No positions? Hmm.

Why didn't he say "go after Al Qaeda in the eastern mountains"? No, it has to be "go harder"... which is actually less. It means just "do something more than today and that'll be enough".

>>>Yes he would march in without Pakistan's approval? Isn't that illegal?

>>I don't really care if they do. Pakistan has been giving safe haven to Al Qaeda, which I consider unacceptable. It's time we stopped thinking of Pakistan as an ally.

>The difference here is that Pakistan holds elections and is not murdering her own citizens. Musharraf pledged to work with the new Parliament. It has to be given a chance. There may come a time (yes, even maybe soon) when the UN needs to act, and failing that, the U.S. I don't think we can make that leap yet. Not until the new government has been given the opportunity. They may fail miserably, but they must be given the opportunity.

This is one of the problems with labeling people. My views are issue by issue, not lockstep. And I am completely disgusted with Pakistan. They take our millions and millions of aid money (billions and billions?) and act against our interests. I don't see much reason to think the new regime will be better than the old one. The military and the secret police still run the place. Everyone is worried about Iran -- fair enough -- but I am more concerned about Pakistan and India being nuked up.
