>My point is that if the system is designed with grids showing all records in a table the there is an artificial limitation of the scalability of the design. In my presentation of user interface design I make the point that if one finds they are using a lot of grids in the interface one should stop and rethink the way the interface works.

Jim,

Am I reading you correctly by understanding that you discourage the use of the grid as a basic building stone in applications, because they would lead to development practices that are too tied with VFP.

Could you give us a sneak preview as to what you suggest we should use as a replacement for grids? And is this hostility towards grids inspired by the fact that today's browsers do not support well the orthogonal display of data (read frames)?

Or do you just discourage the use of grids that are attached to full tables? Surely we could use an extraction from the database no? Is that not what we use in most cases?

And what about the use of grids as an Input seizure control? Should we avoid grids here too?

Thank you for shedding some light on this, if that is at all possible :).

If things have the tendency to go your way, do not worry. It won't last. Jules Renard.
