>>>I recently had two jury summons for the same time period - district and county. One was postponed and the other I had to attend. I tried to get out of it any way I could to no avail. I ended up being on the extra list that had to watch it all on closed-circuit tv. Not THAT is boring. Some people were dismissed for no reason that I could see and yet I couldn't get out of it.

>I had to be in Raleigh for the trial and they would have put me up in a motel for the duration, but as a single mom, I didn't want to do that. That's the one that was postponed. I didn't even realize there was a court in the state you could get assigned jury duty to that isn't within 30 miles. As to the local one, it was just so time consuming at a time when I have projects that have deadlines. The deadlines won't go away and I am already working late evenings trying to stay caught up. Just bad timing. Also, the court didn't allow laptops or any electronic devices in the jury rooms either. I know some of my coworkers had jury duty in other parts of the state and they were allowed to work on their laptops when not in session. Not here. Otherwise, I would have not had a problem with it. I know it really is a civic duty. Funny that I went for years and years without getting a summons and then I got two... I knew no one would believe the odds of that so I took the summons into
>work and showed everyone. It was unbelievable.

We aren't allowed laptops, phones, or much of anything in the jury room or in court.

We can bring books or board games and such to the jury room. Luckily we all seem to hit it off pretty well so we're spending time in the jury room talking about most everything EXCEPT the case.

Testimony finished today. Tomorrow we have closing arguments, judges instructions, and then we get the case. We're all assuming a pretty lively deliberation process - we hope to be done on Friday..
