>>Wow, crazy crazy day here! Huge hail and thunder and lightening and wind gusts to 60mph....

>Have you noticed that hailstones are invariably described as the size of golf balls? David Letterman was reputedly fired from his first media job, as a weatherman at a TV station in Indianapolis, for saying on the air that hailstones the size of canned hams had hit the city.

They are pretty specific here. In another location they were reporting 'nickel sized hail.' They only report it if someone catches it on film and sends it in or an 'approved weather spotter' reports it. What constitutes an 'approved weather spotter,' I have no idea!

We have trees and power-lines down all over the city, but fortunately, no damage to my car :)

Update: they just reported that the weather was so severe, it damaged the news channel offices and weather vehicles (what are those?) in Fayetteville so they couldn't report on it again until it was back up and running. We don't have a local tv station (just a branch of Univision) so it all comes out of Raleigh, NC. (Glad I missed seeing the funnel cloud - it was supposedly located right where I am)
