If I remember correctly the Iraq invasion was WITHOUT UN approval. Just NATO one and w/o taking Russia opinion about that.

I really don't have any opinion about who should be chosen, and that is your internal job, but I suspect that whoever is elected he will be much smarter than the current one :-) That is my opinion of course.
