All I see in those articles are the familiar themes of oil, self-interest and the distorting effect of a UN veto.
Words are cheap but I'm not aware of any mandate for the EU to take proper action against Russia- or against any other nation that mounts a disproportionate military action against a non-EU state on spurious grounds.
The UN could be an excellent vehicle for this purpose but if the culprits have a veto right or buddies willing to exercise one for them, what hope is there? as I said, it's like allowing your car to run out of gas then buying a motorbike because the car is absolutely useless. If people don't want to use their car they could at least be honest about it.
