That's a good question, but it's not just a matter of spelling. What I was trying to point out is that they don't seem to know that french is also a official language in Canada and that the native language of around 7 millions Canadians is french (mostly in Quebec).
The wording "unusual situation" did let me speachless.

Our language is American, not English), I wonder why they don't consider the large number of immigrants where English is a second language?
