>>>FWIW there is growing evidence that having an abortion may affect a woman's mental wellbeing for the rest of her life. Perhaps society needs to check its assumptions regularly rather than adopting marginalized positions to be defended to the bitter end.

>>If this was the case, that these guys were against an abortion for purely medical reasons, then why would they be pushing the ban on abortions in cases when the abortion was the way to save the woman's life? Also, why are they pushing the "abstinence only" as the only true and tried (*) method to be evangelized to the public, to the point where some forms of aid (AIDS related, IIRC) to some countries were contingent on their taking upon themselves to advertise abstinence and not tell their patients or anyone else about any other method. Also, why are these guys instructing their member pharmacists to refuse to sell contraception, specially Plan B?

>And one method of contraception is not necessarily enough. For example, assuming the pill is 99.5 percent effective, 84,000 of the 16.8 million women currently taking it will have an unintended pregnancy even if they take their pills correctly every day.

Exactly. Abortion is the last resort when other methods fail, but it should be there for those cases. Ideally, there'd be a negligible number of them.

People who don't want to have kids shouldn't have kids; wanting to have them should, IMO, take precedence above all other reasons. Since people enjoy sex, they'll keep doing it - and contraception is the way to ensure that kids don't happen to wrong people, or to right people at the wrong time (or wrong company). IMO, abortion is only the last means of contraception, nothing else. All the fake dilemmas are just trumped up dramatizations.
