I've never heard a cop ever admit they locked up someone who didn't deserve it. Every week I hear about another guy getting released after spending years and years locked up because they found out he didn't do it. You listen to the interviews with the cops and they all say things like "I was just doing my job" or "I still think It was the right guy" ..etc etc etc. Some of it is just so funny to watch because it's soooo obvious the guy didnt do it, but the cops and investigators simply refuse to admit they messed up.
As far as the harm in holding someone in a faciility for a few hours that shouldn't be there - I think there is HUGE harm in this. Violates civil rights and is not what this country stands for. You just can't wisk someone away without cause and stick them in a secret facility for a few hours - sounds a lot like Nazi Germany too me!
