Rocio,

First off, you need to determine what type of barcode you will be scanning. The most common is Code39. The latest scanners that I've worked with plug into the USB slot on a pc and work just like a special keyboard, meaning that when it reads the barcode, it sends the text to the computer just like if it was typed in through the keyboard. The main disadvantage of this is the your form has to be running and the cursor must be on the appropriate text box in order to accept the input from the barcode reader and then process it.

There are many sites on the web that sell scanners that plug directly into the pc. The scanner I just bought is a Metrologic MS3580 QuantumT and it works great.

Let me know if you need any additional information.
Kurt
