>>>I'm trying to add labels and fields to a 'template' frx by grabbing a sample record from the frx using scatter name, changing uniqueid, vpos, hpos and expr (and Name for fields), then inserting a new record using append blank / gather from name memo.

>>There's a class library in the FFC directory called _FRXCursor. This library is full of classes that are helpful with manipulating an FRX. Object positioning is really tricky in reports and this helps reposition items and lots of other things. See if anything in there is helpful.

>Thanks a lot, Cathy. I've been tearing apart my bookcases in search of your book to help resolve the problem, but they're organized worse than my hard drives are.

My book is within arms reach .. and I have the e-version on my computer. My Fox startup program alters the menu and adds a bunch of stuff, including items to launch several different books, conference materials, etc. It's a whole lot easier to quickly launch the e-version and search for whatever I'm looking for!
