I'm not sure if it's a matter of you not listening or just that you can't accept what they say. You don't need all the details, but once someone says they are unable to do something a certain way, try to answer what they asked, not what you think they need.

You were asking about locate command. I proposed this modification just at the place where you use LOCATE command. Or are you saying you can not change this piece of code too?

Where you implemented your more complex workaround then?

I think you misunderstood me because I haven't said explicitly that we need this change right at the place of the LOCATE command.

Anyway, as long as the workaround worked I guess you're fine.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
