>>>Mike: Normally I roll my eyes at the "woe is me" VFP end of life posts, but I applaude you for at least proposing an interesting and different take on the situation.

>>>John: Not to seem blunt, but if you're behind the 8-ball because of a belated technology decision I fail to see how that's actionable.

>>>Naomi: You have my sympathy in any case

Mike / John / Naomi:

Firstly, I do appreciate your time in responding; obviously I need to set the record straight:

If you reread what I wrote again, it's very specific about other Microsoft products - not about regretting VFP's end of life. I am not sad about VFP, I am not behind the 8-ball (where did that come from?), I don’t need Free SQL Express and please do not have sympathy for me, wow, thank heavens for what I have--I am very, very fortunate and I thank G-d daily.

I was merely commenting on Microsoft's other products becoming more widely used and the coincidence that VFP was put out to pasture and that competing products were written in VFP. I asked for everyone's opinions and I got good ones - I thought it was a great discussion, even Craig had some great points until he became bored with the thread and started sabotaging it. My opinion about the matter is not set in stone either!

I am also upbeat about c# in my post. My company’s development is going very well (said that too). We’ve been working our conversion for almost 10 months now. I also said VS is a nice product (in fact I like it a whole lot better than VFP but don’t tell anyone). Microsoft did a great job with the VS product. Honestly, if I had my wish come true I would not be programming in c++, VFP or c#, I'd go back to assembly language.

I have seen you guys go through so much frustration over the years about VFP and it's end of life and I have purposefully not been involved in any of the discussions and arguments - I did not mean to make this thread a rehash of all that. Sorry if that happened here.

Everyone be well and thanks for the great input (including yours Craig – I still think you’re a nice guy and you’re not going to change that!).

Kind regards,
Derek
