Just to chime in... anyone who thinks porting an app from VFP to dot-net will be easy, should count on things like this happening. Something that worked perfectly in VFP for ten years or more becomes a problem, all of a sudden. I wonder what sort of workarounds Michel must be writing for this... everything else seems to be faster when it's fast (or just times out otherwise, from time to time), and this kind of scan-endscan down a self-referencing table seems to present quite a problem, speedwise. Glad I don't have to code that myself ;).

Isn't it nice to be a user once in a while? We should feel like that sometimes, just to get in the mood...
