Do you have SET PARSEONLY OFF set anywhere in the stored procedure or in your SQL options?

Maybe to test you can add a SET PARSEONLY ON at the start of your stored procedure and see if you can parse it?

With SET PARSEONLY OFF it compiles and executes the statement.
