I am just guessing, I don't know whether the following works:

Older versions of Novell worked with a separate protocol (not TCP/IP); the equivalent of IP is called IPX.

You can go to network properties, and under protocols, install IPX Compatible or something.

Now, I don't know whether support of IPX is enough to connect to a Novell network; I only installed it because certain games (like Starcraft) require IPX to work on a local network.
