I really think the majority of voters know that the ads are one-sided and distort the information in favor of the candidate whose ad it is. Other than that, it can sometimes be good entertainment :o) I especially enjoy Paris Hilton's rebuff to McCain's ad. My daughter and I laughed over it. However, given that every country has its fools, I'm sure there is a portion of the public who believe the ads and take it as gospel without researching further.

More surprising, I'm astonished at the number of people who repeat rumors and stories that are anything BUT truth about both candidates. You wouldn't believe the nonsense I've heard from people I considered somewhat intelligent in coffee shops! One person starts out with "I read that..." without providing the source or "I heard that..." and the stuff is just plain ridiculous. It happens about both candidates too. Simply amazing...

Here's one example: "Obama stated in a speech that he wants to return all indian lands to the government and bring the indians into the economic programs of the U.S. government."

How ridiculous is that? My response was, "If that were true, wouldn't it be in the media somewhere or posted on his official website as policy? And if it were true, why would so many indian nations be supporting him for Presient?"

I mean come on...just plain stupid. I've heard as much bologna about McCain. Just rumors and where it starts, probably someone's blog on the internet with no basis on fact...
