Then these governments don't subsidize the exports of these medicines. Why can't we buy Canadian here? It would be at fair price, no subsidy or regulation. Surely the US government would want to pamper its people just like any other democratic government on one hand, and would want to show the world how free, unregulated market works better, on the other.

If these subsidies and regulations are bad and causing loss, why don't these companies boycott those markets? Let their seriously flawed systems fail, and ride in after the catastrophe on a high horse. That wouldn't be as repugnant as making a thousandfold profit on somebody's illness - it would be the responsibility of the government (and hence, the people who elected it) in that country.

If they are not incurring losses over there, then why are they applying such a different profit margin here in the US? If the answer is "because they can", I'd only add "and because they believe greed is good".
