I've recently moved to 1024x768 as the design area of the form. Naturally, users can resize it larger.

You have to remember that CRTs are going the way of the dinosaur and being replaced by LCDs. LCDs have a native resolution at which they look best. This is rarely 800x600 because the monitor sizes are 17", 19", and larger. So it's usually something like 1024x768 or higher. My laptop is 1920x1200 native and I have a 24" Acer monitor that I use as the primary screen when I'm not traveling. It is also 1920x1200 native.

640x480 is long gone. 800x600 is the first level above that (and is effectively the lowest resolution available) and has been around forever. It's time to move up . . .
