What you might want to try first is to download and install the latest PCL6 driver for your printer, at the first HP link below. It looks like new drivers were released May 8, 2008 which is pretty recent - maybe this fixes the issues you're seeing.

If you still want to try the PostScript driver instead:

PostScript, like PCL is a page description language used to communicate with printers:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printer_Command_Language
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostScript

You can go to the download page for your printer:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=412162&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=412160&submit.y=0&submit.x=0〈=en&cc=us

If it's Win32 the direct download page for the PostScript driver is
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=412160&prodNameId=412162&swEnvOID=228&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=lj-24684-7

That page has installation instructions.

The Wikipedia page for PCL says that PCL6 is error-prone. There is also a PCL5e driver for your printer, you could try that as well. I tried the PCL5e driver with my client's printer and it didn't fix the problem, which is why we went to the PostScript driver.

If you want to revert files, instructions are in the link in my earlier response. I'd avoid doing this if the machine with the printing problems already has .Net 3.0 installed, or will have in the future.

P.S. it looks like MS corrected one problem with localization of UNIDRV.DLL in the .Net 3.0 installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934238

but other (arguably more serious) problems remain - see the last comment at
