OK. Guess we finally got there. SQL2008 Express has the Date datatype ; SQL2008 CE does not.
TBH, I'm not sure what advantage there is in the Date datatype - unless you're dealing with very large databases?
And DateTime gives you the ability to get changes to a table in the order in which they were made
