Yes, if you don't mind, post a segment of your code. If not me, someone else might see something that can be improved. If anything, Naomi will check your code for typos <bg>.
When you are saying "unacceptable slow", a few seconds or minutes? From what I understand, you only need to lock these either records or files at the top of the application. So, unless I am missing something, taking extra 10-20 seconds at the application load time should not be a big deal.
