"One heartbeat away"? Tamar, I generally don't response well to political talking points. I tend to prefer to think for myself. You just quoted the DNC point du jour.
That being said, I don't think she sounded shallow at all. What was she supposed to say? This was an introduction and her role was to say how happy she was and say a little something about herself - this is what she did.
But....heh....think of the irony of what you're saying. You are expecting her to be deep as a Veep choice yet you support the most shallow candidate for President we've had in a long time. Sure, Palin is a bit wet behind the ears but for the past two years as Governor and years before that as mayor at least she's run
something. Unlike certain Presidential candidates. Try to be a bit objective, Tamar, the Kool-Aid doesn't taste that great, does it?
>>So then she fits perfectly into the "change" mantra, right?

>If "change" just means having someone different. It remains to be seen whether she wants to make substantive, valuable changes. Certainly, having run against the machine in Alaska (which I hear is terribly corrupt) is a point in her favor.

>OTOH, listening to her speak yesterday, she came across as very shallow. Now maybe that's just a matter of style. Hard to say on the basis of a single speech. But she's going to have to sound a lot deeper if she's going to convince undecided voters that she's a safe choice for one heartbeat away.
