I think there is no reason for it to fail; however, if I understand correctly, the problem is that FLUSH (without additional parameters) empties only Visual FoxPro buffers, leaving OS-buffers and disk-write-buffers "intact". For the disk part, I think you must turn off write-cache for the hard disk - I am not sure about the details right now. That must be somewhere in the hard-disk properties. Of course, that would make your entire system slower. For the Windows part, I guess that is solved in VFP 9, with the new parameters for FLUSH.
