John,

First of all, I don't agree my message was insulting. If it was, your message can be regarded insulting to the rest of the world because there are a whole heap of countries that spend a larger percentage of their GDP to forreign aid.

Second, Where did I say anything like Evil? If you reread the message I was saying anything but like that.

Again, yes sure the marshall plan again (old cows, events of more than 50 years ago). Again that was not a pure charity either. There were geopolitical and economical reasons to 'invest' in the devestated parts of europe. The cold war has shown the US had done the right thing.

>See, Walter, it's part of a diabolical plan. Whenever disaster strikes we load up the planes and ships and run over and help but, meanwhile, the Treasury collects secret IOUs at Fort Knox so that we can spring them on an unsuspecting world at the time of our choosing!

And you think we don't do the same? Do you have any idea what The Netherlands with only 16 Million people have donated to the Tsunami? Hint it was more than a 3rd of the US donation !! And a lot faster than the US btw. The US was critisised initially because it slow and lukewarm response at the time. See http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/dis_tsu_fun_ple_pergdp-tsunami-funds-pledged-per-gdp. Oh and which insignificant navy force was there in New Orleans to help out three years ago?

Look, I'm not saying that the US does not take its responsibility of a leading power, but to praise the US for being the leading force behind charity make me puge my heart out. There a lot of countries you are insulting by ignoring what they are doing. So I please ask a little respect for the achievements of those countries. Even if they are a lot smaller than the US.

The american dream is proving my statement: To get wealthy through hard work. It is not a charity to their own citizens (or else at least education and healthcare would be free), so why would it be a charity to the rest of the world ??

>So the next time a typhoon hits Macau...oh wait, you actually divested yourself of that colony. Only took you a few centuries of corruption and brutality to do so.
>
>So, Walter, the abject lesson is that you better think long and hard about insulting my country and it's charitable works when your country has a pretty poor humanitarian record. Can you imagine Americans joining the Waffen SS, ratting out Jews, and shipping Chinese slaves to all corners of the globe? Didn't think so.

That is rightout insulting John. As if the suppression of native indians, slavery, corruption and racism did not exist in the US as well. May I remind that when The Netherlands was a world power the US did not even exist yet, and many american descent from the very same people practising it. As for WWII, (You can't resist bringing this up again and again, heh?) you surely don't have a good understanding of what happened over here in two world wars.

Anyways, we are talking about here and now. If you insist comparing pre-WII europe with the world as it is now, go ahead, but that only shows that you don't wish to see how europe has developed (and still is) post WWII.

Your message enforce the stereotype of the average american that does not have any clue about what goes on in the world and assume the US is best in all, despite the overwhelming evidence indicating otherwise.

Geeezz..

>>The single most important task the US has on their agenda is maintain their empire. Geopolitics are a neccesity in order to achieve that goal. Granted, it also tries to impose our western values to the rest of the world, but it sometimes in their enthousiasm also seems to overlook that the world is more complex and you cannot enforce change by force.
>>
>>Again, the US is not a charity. It never has been and never will be.
