I don't think the pregnancy is going to play the way they want. A lot of people will see a young woman who (presumably) has made a mistake after which she is accepted, supported and nurtured by her friends, family, community and husband-to-be. A lot of heads will be nodding in approval out there and a lot of prayers will be said for the young woman, the baby and the family that turns the other cheek- and there will be charitable prayers for those who don't know any better than to cast the first stone. You watch.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
