Hmm.. is right. Now you got me thinking. I did not create this service in a virtual directory but rather in the file system and running it from VS by pressing F5. This doesn't have any effect on the hosted site causing the same issue, but wondering if I need to create this in a virtual directory for testing. Any thoughts?
