The most painful part is having to weed through so much bad writing, but it's really worth it when you find something really good. Then again, what I consider good is just as subjective as the next person's opinion. However, four of the books I have chosen have gotten published, so I have a good track record. Working as an agent only helps my writing, but leaves me no time to read what's being published these days. I did find time to read CHOKE, by Chuck Palahniuk. What a marvelous read. It dragged on in parts, but overall it was a good book.

Editors are very subjective when they evaluate manuscripts.
