I disagree.
Maybe some of your questions and comments may be if interest to others, but in general you should have emailed directly with Doug. I often have questions regarding programs which maybe could be of interest to other people. But I think it simply is not fair to the programmer of these programs to ask these questions here. First of all the programmer must be much more careful with his/her words if your question is relevant, since more people will read the message and maybe come to the wrong conclusions. And secondly the question may be totally irrelevant, in which case the programmer must be even more careful not to offend you in public. In any case it simply is not fair to the programmer to post the questions here.

Personally I prefer to contact the programmer directly, and if something interesting comes out of it, I may consider post a message here to tell other s about it.
