>thanks for your help. Unfortunately I have not been able to make it work. I can perform the steps, but the image I get in my document is one of the file icon, not the image in the file itself. The end goal is to have a document print with the image displayed. The image may get modified, and it may be used in more than one document. I was wanting to avoid finding each place where an image was used so that it could be updated. It may not work.

If the image is displayed as an icon, then first check the links properties: there is an option to display the file as an icon, make sure, it is unchecked.
Other than that, I quess that anyway with "links" approach you are entering the situation very similar to using general fields in VFP: you are on the mercy of the "host" application that is set to open "image" files on particular computer. What are the "image" file extentions you work with? Are they registered? What is the default application to open those registered file extentions?
