The Kennedys are a fascinating lot, aren't they? John and Joe Kennedy were American heroes during WW2. Joe died when his plane exploded at the age of 29. John Kennedy was a Democrat with some very un-Democratic values when it came to taxes and civil rights in the late 50's, early 60's. I think his book, Profiles in Courage, should be required reading in civics classes.

Robert (Sr.) has always reminded me of Bill Clinton without the warts. He would have been strong competition to Nixon if he hadn't been assassinated.

I don't have a very good opinion of the rest of them ;-D

>That was my thought, but I refrained from noting that because I could imagine the response would be 'you mean he changed his position for political expediency' or something to that effect - which could also be true...

>>Maybe he did privately before the IRA started prominent political assassinations. This is a guy from a family who bought their way into respectability in the 1930's after earning their money rum-running during Prohibition. This is also a guy who tried to make deals with the Soviets in the 70's and 80's to counter US policies he didn't like, such as Carter's reaction to Afghanistan and Reagan's general policy on the Soviets.

>>>I should refrase that... (individual) politcal members were involve in financing the IRA. Ted kennedy supported the funding of the IRA.
>>>Again this is what I've been told.
