I have a work flow problem where, when one user has completed their work on a job, the next user needs to be notified that its time to do his part on the same job.

I'd like to have a little pop-up notification (something like what I get when my GMail arrives) if possible, rather than relying on a form with a timer.

Any ideas on a mechanism for achieving this?
