I think you already confirmed that removing all the code and only having wait window changes the ContactID correctly.

So, get rid of all the code and leave the minimum suggested by Ed or me there. The less code you have the less chances for errors :)

BTW, you only need to refresh your second grid when you move between rows. Check the parameter and only apply your code if it's a Row change.
