MSNBC had become a joke quite a while ago. Oberman has always been something of an idiot (which made him kind of fun on sports shows but he has less gravitas than Terry Bradshaw).

Matthews is an SNL skit of himself. The moment Obama ended what i thought was a pretty impressive speech, he started talking, completely killing the buzz, and just would not shut up. Meanwhile Fox News said, "We should just let our audience enjoy this" and used music and terrific camera work of the Obama and Biden families after the speech to create three or four minutes of what could be lifted straight as a DNC campaign commercial. Go figure. And this when Matthews talks about "the tingle in his leg" from Obama ("ooh, Wayne, my trousers are getting tight") <bg> Well, he did work for Jimmy Carter ...

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
