I meant it's not called umlaut. Yes, it's called yo. Another letter is j (i kratkoe). I haven't read Russian books recently and I forgot for a moment if it's indicated in texts or not (I believe it does). Yo usually doesn't have double dots on it in books.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
