Dear All

Somehow did not sound right to me but it is infact happening.

Changed one large column (240 chars) from Character to Varchar and size on disc actually increased ???
I was actually expecting some optimisation with disc space but got actually opossite from what I expected
Difference is very small but still ...

Is varchar introduced only for better compatibility with remote data or there is some other practical use to
varchar fields versus old fashion character type columns ?

TIA
