I didn't say sufficient; I said some, that is, he didn't just walk away untouched. It's certainly not his fault that there was prosecutorial misconduct, so he didn't have to face the charges.

So what should he have done? From what I read, it appears that he went ahead and did something useful and productive with the rest of his life.
