HI Grady :)

This was actually joke about early days of communist regime in Serbia back in late 40ies.
Willagers wld come to vote, but unlike today, they used to drop small ball (wrapped paper or even beans) in
one of two big jars. One for YES & one for NO. (Whatever that might be)

Then local party activists (and volunteer spies) would watch (or listen) where ball is going to land.
Of course those who landed ball in a wrong jar would automatically land themselves in big trouble.

So people soon realised that ellections were not exactly healty, so they would land the ball in 'correct' jar
and immediately show empy hand to party official (and local spies) to spare themselves a trouble.

* * *

But that was all long long time ago.

As for Socialisam vs Capitalism; I believe you (and many others) still did not realize that things have changed last couple of decades.
There is very few old fashion 'Socialist' countries left (Cuba, NC) and there is certainly no more 'Iron Courtain' & 'communist threat' etc.
(Despite the fact that some politicians in US keep on trying to reinvent Russia as universal imagginary enemy, nowdays that sounds really backdated if not outright stupid)

Real Socialisam nowdays is happening in Europe!
Nowdays, most of Europe is actually prety much 'Socialist' if you want. Europe today is land where workers got what Communists
promissed them some 70 years back. It did happen exactly where Marx predicted it just 6-7 decades later. :)

BTW China is today booming economically rather then collapsing, nagging right back at your theory :)

Cheers :)
Sergio
