I did, but it's going around. My hopes for a cleaner contest than usual have been exposed as a remnant of youthful hopefulness.

I have not taken Palin's expenses as corruption, only abuse of taxpayer money. The taxpayers of Alaska should not have paid thousands of dollars to fly her 7 year old daughter to NYC. What I read is they stayed in a $700 per night room, also billed to the taxpayers. No, I don't think this should be dismissed as just partisan witch hunting.

Let me be perfectly clear. I like Sarah Palin. I don't agree with any of her policy positions AFAIK but she seems like a nice lady. She has many good qualities. But I do not agree for a minute with the defensive posture that any questions about her are partisan mud slinging and nothing more. She accepted this opportunity and that is part of the deal. (Her family is not -- we agree on that). If McCain wins she will be in the #2 position, behind a man who is in his 70s and has cancer issues. Yes, questions should be asked. Damn right they should. And if any fair-minded journalist backs off because of political pressure, shame on them.

BTW, re nice lady, there are lots of nice ladies and lots of nice guys in this country. You're one of them. But I don't think that qualifies one to be President of the most influential country in the world. It is not a far stretch of the imagination that she might be President.
