he came up over a rise and found the bear 10 feet from there. I believe that he was on a low ride recumbent bike (that is what the picture looks like), which does not give much view over a rise. But, I was not there, so I can not say for sure. The article stated that he aimed for the center of the bear, thinking (I think) that the bear would continue across the road and he would miss it.

In that area, school bus picks up children from home, or parents take them to school. I will have to ask someone that lives out there for sure on that.
