Visual Studio has nothing to do with Excel :o)
If you talk about last Excel format Office 2007, than yes, you are right, VFP don't recognize it.
You have several choices:
1. Save the Excel files as Excel 95/200 format.
2. Use automation to get what you want.
3. use ADO to import the data.
