>>>Ah, no, that's not the point. Me being grumpy doesn't change the facts. Hollywood is the Walmart of cinematography. Similar mechanism applies to pretty much anything else.

>So anyone trying to push a foreign movie has to compete with only the whole Hollywood? The distributors are still independent and can show whatever they want, but will usually go with what they think will sell better, eh?

>This has created a system where the winner takes all. You can't expect the quality of a movie to be always proportional to the financial clout of the studio. There will never be a Georgian or Nigerian movie distributed here.

I guess I must have dreamed watching Loving Glances by Srdjan Karanovic...but then I guess since the English was in subtitles, I actually READ it... :o)

I must be honest though, I don't think I've ever watched a Nigerian movie - none have interested me anyway or I'm just not remembering one right now. It's entirely possible though.

It is a sad state though, you are right, that the market drives the movies in theatres and foreign films have always been a smaller market in that sense. You may find this article interesting:

The need to make money has driven many theatres to focus on the big studio blockbusters...
