The way our chemistry professor told the story, it was actually the stale urine (probably of camels) that was poured into a shallow channel that ran around the auditorium so they'd see their Ammon Ra.

I've seen some book in the bookstore's shop window, 's all. Maybe his book, maybe someone else's. I guess the Catholic church was distributing their version through its own channels, so this must be Allegro's book(s) - I remember the ad was beating the "truth about" line. Just wasn't interested.
