I do it all the time from an IBM Mainframe use FTP. No JCL needed. I just launch FTP, and I have a host setup with my mainframe user-id and the IP address of the mainframe. All I have to do is enter my password, and it's drag and drop from there. WS FTP-Pro even inserts itself into Win Explorer to use like Explorer.

I can even connect (login) to the mainframe via my ISP. I connect to my ISP, then launch a 3270 emulator software and I am in.
