Thanks for your answer. As I said I am new and finding my way. In this simple form, I have two pages, one for browsw and the other for edit type screen. I have used command buttons to do variou jobs like go top, go bottom, add, edit etc. I have created a command button called Search. What I want to do here is when some one clicks this button, I want to be able to bring up a small window where the user can type in the what they want to search for. The database is indexed by code and the name. eg when they are in one of the pages, and press search button, they want to find someone start with smith so they can type in SMI in an empty field in search windows etc. I hope I am making sense here.
